West End Place - Our New Clubhouse

Independence Center has accomplished much in the way of developing vital services that support its members. But we recognize how critical it is that we continue to evolve, to not only keep up with but stay ahead of the changing needs of our members. In August, 2007, Independence Center made a historic leap and consolidated its clubhouse programs in one facility located at 4245 Forest Park Avenue. This newly renovated historic building replaces West Pine and Midland Houses, bringing all clubhouse members and staff of Independence Center under one roof. The facility, named West End Place, offers:

• A location that is ideal, with good mass transit access, convenient affordable housing, neighborhood amenities, and nearby medical services.
• Bright, new, progressive 50,000 square-foot open floor plan.
• Updated and modernized technologies – new computers, telecommunications systems, training software, a video lab and more, enabling us to even better prepare our members to participate in a modern work place.
• New work opportunities within the clubhouse, such as a print adn business center, an expanded dining room, snack bar and resale store, and a horticulture center -- each designed to mirror the work experience of its equivalent in the community.
• A full Evening/Weekend/Holiday program that is both sophisticated in its programming and easily accessible to members. West End Place offers expanded hours: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. M-F and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. S-S.
• An expanded Wellness Center has increased space and provides better services to the entire membership.
