(ST. LOUIS – February 28, 2019) Independence Center, a St. Louis psychosocial rehabilitation center for people with serious and persistent mental illness, recently hired Patricia Holmes as the organization’s new chief financial officer. Holmes is a certified public accountant with more than 25 years of experience and a proven track record in accounting, finance, tax, management, compliance, and operations. Holmes will oversee all Independence Center financial operations.
“As a nonprofit organization, accounting and financial management are vital to our continued success,” said Independence Center Executive Director Mark Bethell. “We’re thankful we were able to find someone with Trish’s level of expertise who can work seamlessly between all of our various departments and programs and provide detailed financial management.”
Prior to joining Independence Center’s staff, Holmes spent eight years working as the CFO of Simploy, Inc. in St. Louis. She was responsible for handling financial reporting, legislative compliance, tax and benefit supervision, workers’ compensation policy and audit management. Holmes also spent several years working as a senior tax accountant for St. Louis based Abeles & Hoffman PC specializing in privately held companies and trusts. Prior to moving to Missouri, she managed her private CPA practice for several years, handling a wide variety of clients.
Holmes received her BA from McDaniel College, her certification in accounting from the University of Baltimore and her MBA from Lindenwood University. She is a member of Financial Executives International and Financial Executive Networking Group. Independence Center is a community-based rehabilitation program for adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses in the St. Louis area, built on the Clubhouse model of psychosocial rehabilitation. Its mission is to provide all the services and resources a person with a serious and persistent mental illness needs to manage their symptoms, find belonging and purpose and gain the independence to live a healthy, quality life.
